Biography
Hibiku Underground and Enman Recordings founder, DJ, and producer G.E.N.E has long been a respected figurehead in the U.S. underground and beyond.
With thirty-six years of DJing experience under his belt, it's safe to say G.E.N.E knows exactly how to command a dance floor and sculpt a set that reflects both his depth of knowledge and his finely tuned sonic palette.
Born in Washington D.C. and later relocating to Southern California in the 90s, G.E.N.E became part of the burgeoning West Coast underground scene that was fast emerging as one of America's most vital hotspots.
After establishing himself behind the decks, it was only natural that G.E.N.E would turn his hand to production. Today, he stands at the helm of both Hibiku Underground Recordings and Enman Recordings, where he released his vinyl-only Mayonaka Jam EP which has remix support from Parisian House legend, Franck Roger. The release was well received as it saw its placement on the Top Ten Charts for Deejay.De, Decks.De, Phonica Records and Ryan Elliott's personal chart for 2024. His Bootstrap EP on Hibiku Underground Recordings saw support from legends Laurent Garnier, Ritchie Hawtin, Ilario Alicante and others.
G.E.N.E. has been billed alongside in support of renowned tastemakers including Mule Music's Kuniyuki Takahashi, Panorama Bar's Paramida, deep house luminaries Rick Wade, Inland Knights and Brawther. He has also provided support to iconic figures such as John Digweed, Jimpster, Doc Martin, H-Foundation, Steve Bug, Traumer, and Jamie Jones. This widespread acclaim is a testament to G.E.N.E's craft, producing intricate, floor-focused works that bridge generations of DJs while paying timeless homage to the roots of house and techno.
