Biography
Analogue producer and audiophile partyman Leonidas made his debut as a recording artist in 2012 on Kay Suzuki’s Round In Motion label, with his Sequential EP, gaining acclaim from the likes of Manuel Gottsching, Theo Parrish, and DJ Harvey.
He collaborated with Suzuki on two further EPs (Synqlock Vol I & II) and worked concurrently with Edinburgh label owner Hobbes on 7 vinyl releases, including the Balearic disco hit “Web of Intrigue” which topped Bill Brewster’s 2017 DJ History DJ poll. Their 2021 EP Aranath received support from industry heavyweights and BBC 6 Music.
In 2013, following the release of their debut “Machine Tapes & Electronic Setups”, Leonidas & Hobbes were commissioned to remix The Pet Shop Boys’ “Vocal”. Leonidas has contributed remixes to labels such as Stupid Human Records and Mont Lake, and co-wrote 4 tracks on Jpye's 2 albums on Claremont 56.
He has appeared on over a dozen vinyl releases and several compilations, including DJ Harvey’s “The Sound Of Mercury Rising Vol II”.
In 2020, his track Love For Black Lives, inspired by Bob James, won a competition on François Kevorkian's "World of Echoes" page, earning praise from Bill Brewster, Ashley Beedle and Ross Allen, among others.
In 2024, Leonidas & Hobbes released their debut album Pockets of Light, a 14-track exploration into climate change, reality, UFOs, and AI, gaining critical acclaim.
Their 6th EP Together (May 2025) was warmly received and reviewed by an illustrious worldwide audience including Jurgen Knoblauch (Jazzanova), Bradley Zero (Rhythm Section), Love Injection (NYC), John C Bawcombe (Balearic Burger) and Cedric Woo (Beauty & the Beat).
Leo's 2nd solo EP Flying Saucers is due on Oct 31st 2025 and has already received support from Bill Brewster, Trevor Fung, Cedric Woo, Cyril Cornet and Gordon Wedderburn.
