Biography
Yes, this is my biography, this time straight from the DJs mouth, because why not introduce myself to the world? A challenge for myself, because as my friends say, I never boast, I’m an observer, a listener (quite a handy quality for the music industry), but here it goes...
I was born in a little town near Amsterdam called Zaandam, and grew up a little more to the north. Amsterdam is part of my roots, it is the place where I first started DJing, and is now also my homebase. My mother always tells me that I was born with an innate affinity for rhythm. I started my musical journey as a toddler, tapping away on drums (the real instrument and several times on a collection of trash).
My love for electronic music started with my father, he introduced me to this incredible scene. Instantly I was mesmerised by its boundless possibilities. It might sound cheesy but his inspiration is what ignited my passion for our industry, in turn shaping my life and igniting all the ideas for the future. Fueled with all this passion, I’m proud when I look back at what I’ve accomplished. So for one time only (good thing this is kind of permanent) I’m going to boast just a little. At 27 years old, there are over 10 vinyl releases, numerous collaborations and remixes, and more to come. It was insightful to go back in time and see all the growth. Every moment in time I’ve tried to pursuit personal excellence and most importantly to create something that’s an extension of my being. I get inspired by the world around me, in the past, present, and the thought of its future form. The studio is my favorite place on the planet, it’s my safe space, the place where I find solace amidst a labyrinth of synths (my favorite).
During my DJ sets, I try to weave together a story consisting of my own studio jams and unique productions of fellow artists. While some may label my sound as minimal, I would like it to transcend the semantic limitation. I aim to compose a tapestry of intricacies, revealing new layers upon every listen. Whether in the studio or behind the decks, my main goal is to capture the true artistry of music production, creating captivating sounds that elicit the purest of feelings, allowing my listeners to connect with themselves and the universe around us.
Now, also the proud founder of my own record label Scala Muziek, I hope I can one day be part of the driving forces within the electronic music scene. In the end folks, it all comes down to this important fact: music isn't just a vocation— it's my calling. Whether I’m lost in the depts of the studio or trying to command the dancefloor, my love for music and it’s power knows no bounds.
See you soon,
Pascal
